“Knights in the Spotlight” – Brimbank Leader

KNIGHTS of the silver screen are being invited to submit their movies to this year’s Sunshine Short Film Festival.

The annual event, an initiative of the Sunshine Business Association, has opened for entries.

The chairman of the association and festival director Bruce White said the theme of this year’s competition would be “Knights in Sunshine”.

MrWhite encouraged both new and accomplished filmmakers to enter an original film of five minutes or less into the contest.

The films must feature their interpretation of “Knights in Sunshine” with creativity encouraged.

Entrants all get a chance to share in the $10,000 total prize pool.

The categories this year will be for primary school children, secondary students and adults.

This year the festival is introducing the “Millennium Trophy”, symbolising achievement in the industry. It’s named after the Millennium Man statue near Village Cinemas in Sunshine.

All finalists’ films will be screened at Village Cinemas Sunshine on October 28 at a red carpet gala event. Mr White said last year more than 60 entries were submitted to the festival, including from France and Germany.

“We are putting Sunshine and our local artists on the international map,” he said.

“That is what the festival is all about.”
